EXCERPTS:
The archer of interest rounded the corner of the building at
Trelgar’s call and Senec suppressed a smile, understanding at once why he had
been accorded the honor of a private meeting with the tribal leader. This
chieftain who knew his father-in-law was not even being subtle. Trelgar wanted
an alliance without losing any of his men. A woman, on the other hand...well,
that might be possible.
“My daughter,” he introduced the tall, lissome girl. “This
is Astera. She is our middle jewel.”
A middle child, neither the expected first nor the favored
youngest. This one was a bargaining chip, but jewel was not too strong a
descriptor. Senec viewed her with total respect. She was not beautiful as
Ganina was...she was a warrior. Tall, dark haired with a striking profile under
strong brows...feminine, but the gods, she was impressive. Soft deerskin clung
to every curve while boots that reached above the knee accentuated her length
of leg. Her smile was surprisingly warm and gracious...she was a goddess who
could be thawed, that smile said...and in no way obsequious. She was looking at
him every bit as boldly as he was at her. This was not a compliant creature
with Ganina’s sweetness. Astera was a woman to bed if he could, but she would
not be easy.
“You two are young,” Trelgar dismissed himself. “Go and
shoot for pleasure if you like. I have had enough for one day.”
“It is a glorious day for pleasure,” Astera agreed. She
carried two bows, one over each shoulder. “Will you come?”

Fantasy poetry
driven by myths and legends has been my passion for as long as I can remember.
I was published in poetry before catching the romance writing bug. I bring that
background to my writing along with a lifelong addiction to horses, an 18 year
career in various areas of psychiatric social services and many trips to
Ireland, where I nurture my muse. My published works range from contemporary
fantasy romance to fantasy historical, futuristic, science fiction and
historical romance. Currently I live in rural Pennsylvania with a “motley crew”
of rescue animals. You can see my books at www.miriamnewman.com.
