Date Published: December 14

Publisher: Acorn Publishing

Have you ever wondered exactly how yoga impacts your nervous system? This book explores yoga practices ranging from as little as five minutes, to up to an hour to support you in overcoming common imbalances such as panic attacks, depression, inattention, and more. This book will help you design a step-by-step program that promotes your journey towards a balanced nervous system, allowing you to customize the duration and intensity of your home practice.

Explore pranayama (breathing exercise), namaskars (salutations or movement meditations), asana (poses), mudras (hand gestures), mantras (repeated sounds to control and focus our mind), and meditation. Learn how to synchronize practices with nature, use the elements to heal and enhance life-experience, and take advantage of increased energetic junctions such as the full moon when they occur. Craft a yogic home practice that is tailormade for your constitution and rooted in tradition that will ground, balance, and allow you to find optimal wellbeing.

Practical Advice for Beginning writing about Yoga and wellness

I will tell you my story about how I wrote my book, what worked and the pitfalls to avoid. I wanted to share my knowledge of yoga and how it had benefited myself and my students. The main thing that worked for me was firstly, to construct a table of content. That part was easy, because I knew what I wanted to share and how it all lined up in my head. If you choose to write about yoga and/or wellness, it’s important that you write about practial learnings that firstly happened to you in your own personal practice and secondly, that you shared successfully with students. Write your experience in your own words, drawing from your personal life to make the writing come alive. The biggest mistake I made when I wrote my book was to use a template of a table of contents that someone else had put together, using their suggestions on how to “sell my ideas”. It took my editor a substantial amount of time to untangle that misstake. My advice would be to put together your own table of content, structured in the way that works for you and that outlines your idea. Don’t try to fit your ideas into someone else's template and don’t lower yourself to become a cheap sales person, writing what you think people want to hear versus the message you want to convey. It will only shrink it and you will confuse yourself while writing. Once you have that clear roadmap/table of content, go to town with writing your book. By this I mean you must write undisturbed every day for a set amount of time. If you don’t, and take long breaks between your writing stints you will lose connection with the message you're trying to convey and forget the red thread that should ideally run through your story. I used the pomodoro technique (write uninterrupted by messages or social media for 25 minutes. Take 5-10 minutes break and do 3 other sessions just like that a day). I additionally used yogic techniques when I wrote my book. I did a mudra and pranayama session for 10 minutes before I started writing and during some of the breaks to help me create a razor-like focus and enter the state of flow for optimal efficiency (you can read about them in my book). I additionally used the high performing time frame of my day, when my mind was clear and my family wouldn’t interrupt me. This meant getting up at 4 AM in the morning and compensating for lack of sleep by napping during the day and going to bed early. But it worked exceptionally well. If you want to create you have to set aside undisturbed time away from all the other things you need to complete in a day. If you wonder where to find that time, just cut out your late night netflix habit for 3 months and rise early to complete that book that is dying to be written down on paper. I did it, so can you.
